Austrian Student Ombudsman Presents First Annual Report

A report by the Austrian Student Ombudsman provides information about how the Ombuds carries out his statutory duties as an appeal body for 390,000 students and how he provides information and other services to the higher education community.

In addition to case statistics, the report also contains anonymised descriptions of selected cases and proposals for higher education decision makers. For the 2012-13 academic year, the Austrian Student Ombudsman handled 505 cases and resolved 71% internally. Josef Leidenfrost, the head of the office of the Austrian Student Ombudsman, has been briefing members of the Austrian Parliament on the report. He oversees a staff of eight: an assistant, the deputy ombudsman, four desk officers, one apprentice and one intern. (Hochschulombudsmann Tätigkeitsbericht.)
