Lehigh University Names Two New Ombuds

The private university in Bethlehem, PA has appointed Robert Thornton and Susan Szczepanski to serve as Ombudspersons.  In their part-time roles, they serve as resources for about about 9,000 faculty, students and staff.  


Thornton is a Professor of Economics and former department chair. He has also served as Lehigh’s faculty athletics representative to the NCAA.  He graduated Xavier University and earned his PhD from the University of Illinois.  His research interest include, among other things occupational licensing. Szczepanski is an Associate Professor in the Mathematics Department and has served on several faculty committees.  She received her PhD from Rutgers University and held a two-year post-doctoral position at M.I.T. before joining Lehigh.
